Judge Bruce M. Wright, New York State Supreme Court, lawyer, poet and author

Marcus Jackson (1921-1996) was a moral and financial supporter of St. Philip's and leader in the community with Marcus Jackson Funeral Home.In 1952 he opened the first funeral home located on Eighth Avenue.. In 1976 a second funeral was opened in the north east Bronx. The firm continues to be family owned and operated by Margaret B. Jackson and Margaret O’Connor Jackson.

On Sunday June 13th, 2010 Senator Chuck Allen, III Scholarship Fund will award three tri-state college-bound seniors $500 prizes for their academic achievement, and essays on the TARP question presented by the committee. Recipients have chosen  to study in Accounting, Law, Political, Urban Studies, or work in Public Management areas of interest by the late Sen. Chuck Allen. He died after a long battle with cancer in February 2008. The presentation will take place during the 10 am service at St. Philip’s Episcopal church located at 204 West 134th Street, New York City.

The first awardees to receive this scholarship in memory of the late Chuck Allen and his 26 years of political service to the State and City of New Haven, CT. are: Isaac Caanova of Kolbe Cathedral High School in Bridgeport, CT,  Mia Jackson of The Lab School in Manhattan New York City, and Tiffany Mills of  Teaneck New Jersey High School.

The awards will be presented by New Haven, CT. Councilman, Charles C. Blango and Vincent Morgan former Aide to  U.S. Congressman Charlie Rangel who is now running for the same Harlem Congressional seat.
